Where once poplars grew in long lines in the peaceful heart of the Milanese countryside, now stands “La Pobbia”, taking its name from those same trees (“pobbia” means poplar in Milanese dialect). It serves as proof that here great traditions don’t change as time goes by.
La Pobbia 1850 is one of the oldest restaurants in Milan and still preserves the charm of its long-standing history.
Thanks to its good reputation and its attachment to tradition, La Pobbia has been awarded the title of “Bottega Storica” – “Historical shop in Milan” by the City of Milan and with the title of “Historical Activity of Lombardy” among the protagonists, the activities and knowledge that are handed down from generation to generation for at least 40 years.

THE ANZAGHI FAMILY
At the helm of the Restaurant there are today the two brothers Attilio and Roberto who, after their grandfather Attilio and grandmother Lina, and then their father Eugenio and uncle Renato, represent the third generation of the family of Milanese restaurateurs, The Anzaghi, who has been running it for over 100 years.
You will meet them at La Pobbia every day, ready to welcome you in person with sympathy, kindness and great competence.
The awards
Historical workshop in Milan
The Historical Shops are defined as «important element for memory, precious account of culture and tradition, cultural heritage of the City” and have been awarded by the mayor in office with the plaque designed by the architect Bob Noorda.
Historical activity of Lombardy
Regione Lombardia recognizes clubs and historic shops characterized by the continuity over time, for at least 40 years, of the management, the sign and the offer, in addition to the location in valuable facilities and the preservation of historic furnishings and equipment. La Pobbia is recognized as a Historical Restaurant of Lombardy.
Diploma with Gold Medal “Milano Produttiva”
In 2009 La Pobbia and the Anzaghi family received the Diploma with Gold Medal in the occasion of the “Milano Produttiva” (Productive Milan) awards at Milan Chamber of Commerce, in recognition of “74 Years of Commendable Business Activity”.
